I started #ADBD in 2007. We were a young creative agency specializing in launching brands and putting them into the global marketplace. We started with an office on #Melrose above a tattoo parlor. Then we opened an art gallery concept space on #Beverly and started to tell even bigger stories. Eventually we opened a creative space in #DTLA. We were working with Fortune 500 companies looking to capture popular #culture. (You know, that elusive pursuit of the young, multi-cultural twenty-something who makes the world go round!) We told them you can't capture culture. It's ether. Vapor. It's a moment within a moment. If you want to experience what the real genesis of a movement feels like, you have to go seek it out. I want to live in the eye of that storm. A crossroads of fashion, music, art, youth, rebellion. I want to push forward. I want to be in the grey state of being that rests in between all that is really happening. I want to impact that space. And so I moved our company to #Fairfax Avenue. Undoubtedly one of only a handful of places in the universe that attracts so much humanity - humanity driving humanity. So much creativity. So much malleable energy. This was the platform where we could raise our flag and declare our way of making things. That was three years ago today when we opened our first ADBD store and launched our stand-alone brand. But not just a brand, a new way of creating, running and being a brand. We are made in the #USA using #hemp and organic #cotton. We have designed a new form that allows the wearer to tell its own story. Our clothing layers together to create a unique form that is only you. Our logo, the uncarved block, represents the power of a sculpture before it is sculpted - the strength and identity that defines us is, after all, by our own makings. I have been afforded the humbling and fantastic opportunity to make clothes for humans. We, together, apart, different, same are that culture which can never be captured or defined. Be you. Thank you for joining me on this journey. ? AD
