Let's Talk about pH —
WHAT IS IT?
The pH scale is used to measure the acidity or alkalinity level of water-based solutions. Ranging from 1 – 14 where 1 is the most acidic, 14 is the most alkaline. Our skin naturally sits at around 4.5-5.5.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
The skincare we apply has a direct effect on the pH of our skin. Balanced skin is happy skin. The skins barrier remains intact and functioning properly to protect the skin from external aggressors.
Periodically taking the skin out of its comfort zone with chemical exfoliants kickstarts the skin's natural restorative process. Encouraging skin renewal and production of Collagen.
WHAT CAN THROW THE SKINS pH BALANCE OFF?
Repeated unprotected UV exposure or overuse of heavily acidic or alkaline products can compromise the skins pH and protective barrier resulting in:
✖️ Stripped, dry skin
✖️ Irritation, inflammation and breakouts
✖️ Bacteria and pollution entering lower layers of the skin
WHY IS LIQUID GOLD'S pH SO LOW?
The pH of AHAs determines their strength and bioavailability (how much the skin can actually utilise). Liquid Gold's uniquely low pH of 2.8-3.0 ensures:
✔️ Rapid delivery of Glycolic Acid (AHA)
✔️ Deeper penetration and effectiveness
✔️ Superior exfoliation
