It isn’t really like me to post something like this but- today as I got ready to take the babes to school, I saw something in the mirror I was really proud of. Myself. ✨ A few months back after a health scare (that thankfully turned out to be nothing!) I decided I needed to make some changes. The number on the scale told me my eating (and drinking) habits were not okay. And I realize that a number on a scale isn’t always an indicator of health but- I couldn’t fit into my favorite jeans. I wouldn’t be caught dead in a bikini. I wasn’t comfortable in my own body. So for me, that number wasn’t okay because physically I wasn’t feeling okay. People say I’m “thin” and while I am grateful for that, having to keep your favorite jeans unbuttoned during a date is just embarrassing (to me). The first thing I did was get a full physical with complete blood work to know where I stood with my own body. At the beautiful age of 40, I didn’t even know my cholesterol levels, eek. The results of my physical were good! Doc says I’m healthy! However- I still would rather eat a bowl of worms than put on a bikini. So I decided it was time to take control of my life so if an opportunity to slip on that teeny bikini arose, I could without a thought in the world, slip that baby on and be proud. I started with adjusting my food. No pizza, no fries, no sugar. Do you even know how hard that was! Especially when my kids LOVE PIZZA and so do I! But I stuck to it. No more mocha-latte-whip-extra-shot-chocolate drizzle blah blah -nope- two shots of espresso over ice it was. I’m worth it. ✨ The food adjustment wasn’t as hard as the alcohol adjustment. It’s amazing how often I was drinking and for what? Stress relief? Hmmm. Being overweight was causing me stress that then caused me to drink. Drinking usually led to bad food choices. Ugh. The cycle. So I cut way back on the drinking and I began to feel so much better. I slept better. I thought more clearly. I liked it enough to stick with it and for me, that was huge. I tend to quit things that end up being “too much work” but not this time. Next came the workouts. I was introduced to @coach_kem... ((the rest of my journey in the comments below)
