Orange Juice x Rocket Fuel: Robert Rauschenberg traveled to @NASA's headquarters in Cape Canaveral Florida in 1969 to witness the historic launch of Apollo 11 and commemorate the first manned spaceflight to the moon. "Banner (Stoned Moon)," a series of thirty-four lithographs made by #Rauschenberg in response to this visit, conveys an artist re-energized by this historic event and moment of optimism amid a period of disillusionment during the late 60s and Vietnam War. Here, Rauschenberg frames a screen-printed crate of oranges with various images and icons from his visit, washed-over in complementary blue.
