We're excited to share the next product in our Foundations release, "Frame in a Frame." Here, we've pulled a beautifully crafted 1850s baroque frame from the collection of The MET and put it in your hands to use in your world. A beautiful watercolor from the eruption of Karaktoa in the 1880s fills & surrounds it, highlighting the frame's fallibility as a representation of truth. Peel & you'll reveal a serene scene at Lake George in upstate New York in 1922, contrasting with black & white calm.
For most of human history, the act of framing was itself special, as frames & the media they hold themselves were costly to create. Today, however, we’re all framers. Digital cameras & online publishing tools have given us all the power to capture the world & present it, as we see it or wish it were. Use our frames like Instagram in the real world. Find an image you want to elevate, or even just a subset of one. Could be an old family photo or a photo of old family photos, as depicted here by Camille Lévêque of the @thelivewildcollective. We love frames and hope you do too!
