As we set out to capture the essence of our "Foundations" product release, we wanted to tell their story with a photographer partner that we felt truly understood our stickers & their underlying ideas. While our search was methodical, like many creative endeavors, it was truly the result of serendipity.
After reviewing dozens of candidates with the help of our amazing creative producer, @Themorrisongroup, we reached out to a handful of contemporary collage artists (Lucie Khahoutian, Marguerite Horay, Charlotte Fos, and Camille Lévêque) with ecclectic styles, unabashedly cold emailing them. One of our first calls was with, Camille, hailing from the outskirts of Paris, Ivry-sur-Seine.
It wasn't 5 minutes into our chat that Camille revealed a secret. She is more than Camille. In fact, she's actually each of Lucie, Marguerite, Charlotte, and more - all operating under the moniker, The Live Wild Artist Collective (@thelivewildcollective). Where we typically assume a Collective is group of distinct people, Camille conjured a new version wherein she could embody each of seven unique personnas based on her extended family members, with their own aesthetic style and hireable as such.
For Camille, identity is unstable, "porous" and - like our stickers - remixable, a social construction, worn like a piece of clothing, and performed each day. Until her collaboration with Apply, little was known of her model for creativity. We're humbled by the opportunity to partner with all in the Live Wild Collective and loved the chance to share their story.
