I'm asked this a lot ... why do some gemstones look brighter or more brilliant than others .... e.g. Smokey Quartz emerald cut (L) and London Blue round (R) ☝️ it's all in the cutting of the stone ... the round gemstone has many more facets ... light enters the stone reflecting off the facets at the bottom of the gem making it more brilliant ....
