Dear Havana,
I can’t believe you’re five, and I’m so sorry that today will not be everything you hoped for.
I can’t believe it’s been 5yrs of loving you and squeezing you and being so glad we decided to have one more baby to complete our family. You are and have been for 5yrs now, the boss of this house. Shy on the outside in public, probably because it’s confusing when lots of people know your name, but crazy, sassy, funny and bossy when you’re at home with us. You make us smile every single day and your sissy’s adore you, even if you don’t let them pick you up and baby you.
I’m so sorry that today should be your first day of school, it should be the start of a big adventure, it should be seeing friends and going out for dinner. This Saturday should be your big 5th birthday party with your little buddies and your 5 years should be celebrated. But for now we are in a global pandemic and that is shitty timing and totally unfair and I’m sorry.
I’m sorry that the only place you are going in this uniform today is to the lounge and we don’t know when that will change.
But hey, you are healthy and happy and we have cupcakes.
So instead I will post this photo of you trying on your uniform, your sweet little excited face, taken back when we thought it was all going to go ahead.
