Yesterday, we packaged up clothing and sent it off on a truck to Hawke’s Bay. Nathan grew up in the Hawke’s Bay and his parents still live there now, so the bay means a lot to him. As soon as we saw what happened after cyclone Gabrielle, we wanted to help in the most obvious way for us, donating clothes. So these boxes are 8 pallets worth of stock We have excess stock this year due to the pandemic. In a business that indent orders many months in advance we found ourselves in a position of excess stock after having our stores closed for hundreds of days over the past 3 years. Nature of the business in what has been a tough 3 years for business owners. But if there ever was a silver lining of covid excess stock, it was being able to donate it to those suffering from the cyclone. So instead of selling it or keeping it we have sent it to where Nathan calls home. We have been put in touch with an amazing woman in Hawke’s Bay who has been working with charities for 20 years. She is storing it for us (in a secure warehouse that an amazing HB business has supplied us) and will distribute it out to charities, organisations and give a little pages that are in need of clothing as helicopters and roads become more available. Obviously we can’t take individual names for her to gift to, but if you are in Hawke’s Bay and know of a school taking donations, charity, organisation or give a little page in need of woman’s clothing then please email customercare@augustine.co.nz and we will pass a list onto her for distribution. We know that clothing really isn’t much in these devastating times and what these families must be going through, but we hope it helps just a little.
