You’re allowed to grieve and you’re allowed to be angry. It’s ok to question all of your beliefs and it’s ok to not know anything at all. The team at Awe is, like you, mourning the unspeakable, unthinkable, gut-wrenching events that unfolded yesterday on a mundane Tuesday. Many of us had children sitting at desks in their classrooms while the news alerts and social media coverage began reporting. Like you, our hearts broke into a million pieces trying to even for a second, understand what the parents of those children were experiencing. What the INNOCENT children were experiencing and how at their last moments they should have been held by someone who loved them. Like you, we’re at a loss and we straddle the roles of being a brand and making sure business is as usual and just being human beings who are just trying to get through a day. And nothing of this is new. We’ve been here before. Many of us remember Columbine and the numbness. And then more came and we watched as countless massacres kept increasing on our newsfeeds, in our neighborhoods and every time we watched in shock, helplessness and rage. We are not here to offer a solution, to give thoughts and prayers, to ask for a moment of silence or to urge you to call every senator. We’re just here to say that we’re doing our best too, and just trying to figure out how to heal from any of this. A few of us were talking about which Goddess we chose to wear today (we have these convos frequently in between video calls and our lunches out) and we all gravitated towards a Goddess who could offer us a sliver of whatever we needed to make it through. Artemis, protector of children. Joan of Arc for much needed strength. Medusa to honor our rage. Circe to create a new world away from it all. Ruth to remind us of our power. Ala for justice. Demeter, a devoted mother to Persephone. Frigg, for motherhood and protection. Hecate to manifest chaos — because things HAVE to change now. We hope you take whatever you need right now and be gentle on yourself. We will try and do the same.
