As we head into the weekend (very into resting), we'd like to take a moment to talk about a few *interesting* Goddesses.
#Pachamama, often depicted as a blossoming mountain, the Andean fertility Goddess (whose name translates to “Mother Earth”) is a benevolent Goddess who nourishes and protects all those who live on earth. The Greek Goddess of the night, #Nyx is revered for her exceptional power and beauty. One of the primordial deities first born of the Greek cosmos, she’s the daughter of Chaos, the mother of Hypnos (Sleep) and the grandmother of Morpheus (Dreams). She ruled the realm of Tartarus, the deepest recesses of the Underworld. Her mystic powers include telekinesis, regeneration, invulnerability, manipulation, and superhuman strength.
#Aphrodite is so much more than the Greek Goddess of love, beauty, and gracefulness. “Aphros” means foam in Greek, as she was born from sea foam. She’s represented by doves, sparrows, and swans. And myrtle trees, as in fertile myrtle.
There’s nothing dim about #Demeter, the bright Greek Goddess of the harvest. You may know her as the mother of Persephone and the fourth wife of Zeus, but she’s so much more. She was quintessential to the farmers and peasants of Greece and was worshipped atop Mount Olympus for survival, bounty, and obedience. Her gifts to humanity include olives, figs, and grapes, making her the Goddess of wine in our eyes.
Worshiped in the Yoruba religion as the Goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, #Oshun is the granter of wishes and all your heart’s desires. She can heal the sick, tend to the poor, and unlock love, lest you seek betrayal. Also known as the Goddess of witches, you definitely want this Goddess on your good side.
An exceptional military leader that defied all expectations, #JoanOfArc believed she was destined to guide France to victory in its Hundred Years’ War with England. With no proper training, she fearlessly led an army to victory becoming one of history’s greatest saints.
