Where science and serendipity meet: MS doctoral researcher Michael Keough, a trainee in Dr. V. Wee Yong’s laboratory at University of Calgary, was looking for a specific molecule to help advance his research in myelin repair, and he just happened to run into a group of chemists who make the molecule while on a ski trip in Banff. This was just the event he needed to rev up his research again.
His latest study, published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications and funded by the MS Society of Canada, has led to new knowledge about how myelin is damaged while taking the next step towards investigating a new potential therapy for myelin repair. ???
