this photo was shot by @oceancollectivemedia in the middle of the indian ocean 〰️ here on the irish sea coast, we often find large raggy pieces of plastic just like the one in this photo. the beach drags it under, so what seems like a small piece of plastic actually ends up being 5 x larger after pulling it out of the compact sand.
find it floating in a tidal pool and it moves just like a jellyfish (a sea turtles favourite snack). sometimes it's so brittle it breaks off in your hands and can be impossible to remove without it shattering into small pieces (a toxic meal for filter-feeders like the whale shark 👆). never underestimate the impact of a mini beach clean or quick litter-pick wherever you are. it may seem small and insignificant (even a little socially awkward at times 🙄), but it is a gift to nature & there is a whole host of wildlife that will thank you for such a gesture 👍
