this woman 👆 @stompycole is pretty amazing. not only is she the first mermaid to swim from Alcatraz to San Fransisco (slide to see the tail in all it's fishy glory), last month she took on a mammoth 120 MILE swim from the source of the River Thames to Teddington Lock collecting plastic along the way to highlight plastic pollution.

on her support boat was artist @barbarademoubrayartist who pulled along a hollow mermaid sculpture made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. the team asked members of the public to litter pick along the river and add it inside the hollow mermaid, which by the time they got the London would represent a small percentage of plastic currently polluting the River Thames.
