A jaw-dropping 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic has been produced in total. This is the same weight as = x822,000 Eiffel Towers or x80 million Blue Whales or x1 billion Elephants 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘 .
Despite this, the plastic manufacturing industry will have produced another 300 million tons of new plastic by the end of the year, with less than 10% recycled at it's end of use - the rest being sent to landfill or incinerated. .
We want to show that there is value to be found in what we currently deem as 'rubbish', that slowing down the production of new plastic in favour of using the abundance of existing 'resources' we already have is the way forward ♻️ .
And a knock-on effect of this would be cleaning up our environment 🌎 .
