As much as half of humanity lives in cities nowadays. Even though the world’s cities occupy only 3% of the Earth’s land, they account for 60-80% of energy consumption and 75% of carbon emissions. The continuing rapid urbanization means that these numbers will only continue to grow, unless we do something now.
