Welcome to The Makers. Each week, we’re celebrating innovators, artisans and crafters of all types, taking you on a private tour of their creative spaces. For this instalment, artist @b_a_k_e_s__b_a_k_e_s welcomes us into his Melbourne studio apartment, a carefully curated space he shares with his partner Dee, which is situated above her floristry. The refined aesthetic found in Stephen Baker’s home is similar to the way he interprets the human form, where bold, geometric shapes swim amongst colour palettes that are at once bright, thoughtful and restrained. Like his work, not an inch of space is wasted in his pared-back, single-room Carlton apartment. Everything here serves a purpose—from the vinyl record shelf room dividers, to the inbuilt bedside bookshelves. In the living area, two pea green mid-century chairs—one for him and one for her—sit opposite his prized record player and a hung artwork of his own making, in a home that is at once minimal and meaningful. Head to the link in our bio now for the full tour, captured by @ameliastanwix and styled by @becksimonstylist for @bed.threads Journal. ✨
