For us here at Bed Threads, home should be a place where you truly can be yourself, whether you’re entertaining, sleeping in, or relaxing on the couch after a long day. Home is about feeling calm, at ease and relaxed. It’s about knowing that whenever you step through your front door, you can exhale – because you’re home.
Our long-term followers will know that #TheMakers is our name for the home and studio tours we have shared with our community on our Journal for many, many years. It almost dates back to the inception of Bed Threads. #TheMakers was created to celebrate the home in all of its various forms, sizes, locations and life stages. It’s a way of showing that your home is yours, a personal space for you to curate exactly as you want to.
One thing we have learned over the years of producing #TheMakers – and being invited into the private homes of creative people all around Australia and the world – is that there is a strong link between creativity and your personal space. It’s not possible to be creative and to think clearly without a sense of peace within yourself. And one of the truest ways to achieve this is a space in which you can be (and express) yourself. Somewhere you can retreat to and relax in, away from the outside world, without judgement or scrutiny. Your home.
