Day 26: GRAPEFRUIT SHEA BODY WHIP

Most packaged skin care must contain preservatives to stop bacteria growing over the many months the product is transported and sitting on a retail shelf and then in your bathroom. As soon as water or aloe vera are used in particular, microbial growth is inevitable. Contamination can be dangerous to your health so it is important that preservatives are used when required.
.
However, many natural products use unsafe synthetic preservatives such as parabens, formaldehyde, and phenoxyethanol.
.
One way to avoid these chemicals—and plastic packaging at the same time—is to make your own.
.
Last night, we held our first workshop in our exciting new community space at our Paddington store called @biome.collective Jacqui customised this whip for me with grapefruit essential oil and it smells divine.
.
HOW TO MAKE
1️⃣ Add 1/4 cup coconut oil and 1/4 shea butter to a clean dry mixing bowl.
2️⃣Using a metal whisk or electric beaters, whip fast until the mixture is light and airy.
3️⃣Mix in about 12 drops of essentials to your liking.
4️⃣Scoop mixture into a clean dry glass jar.
.
As no preservatives are used, please take care to:
▫️Keep in a cool place out of sunlight and use within 6 months. Store in the fridge on hot days.
▫️Use clean and dry hands before touching the moisturiser.
▫️Keep water and steam out of the product.
