1920
Exactly 100 years ago today, the 19th amendment was adopted to the U.S. Constitution, federally granting women the right to vote. While this date marks an important moment in history, there was still a lot of work to be done. It took decades before all women, particularly of color, gained the right to vote.
1965
These colorful stars are a symbol of women’s suffrage, and our version represents the continued journey towards equal voting rights. The Voting Rights Act of 1965, signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson, prohibited racial discrimination in voting and represents a landmark piece of federal civil rights legislation.
1965 to Present Day
The word “empowered” embodies what the right to vote means for each of us as individuals. Today, we continue the fight against voter suppression because all voices deserve to be heard.
2020
It’s always important to use our voices by voting. We must help raise awareness and encourage all women to register to vote in this year’s elections.
