"My mom is my best friend. No, really. I know a lot of people say this but I truly mean it.
My mom is a one in a million person. Growing up, not only did she, of course, serve as mom, but she was also our all knowing at home homework helper- able to help you ace any assignment (she was good at every subject), she was our cheerleader never ever missing a big sporting event or play, our shoulder to cry on when things got tough, our doctor helping cure our colds with some chicken soup and ginger ale, she was superman somehow wrangling four kids to school, soccer practice, and beyond each and everyday, and she was (and still is) our friend.
It wasn't until I got older though that I realized just how special my moms friendship is. She always tells you how it really is, gives the best advice because she's lived through it, she really does want to see you succeed, AND she always loves you unconditionally- no matter how many times we mess up. Not all friendships are like that, which has helped me to appreciate my mom that much more.
So this Mother's Day, thank you mom for being a constant force of love and light in my life.
All I can hope is that one day I'll be half the woman you are, Happy Mother's Day!"
