Today is Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States. Although President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, word of freedom did not reach Galveston, TX until June 19th 1865. It is a day that sends the powerful message that we are not free until we are ALL free and symbolizes power and dignity for Black people in America.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
