I took a breather from the IG upon the news I lost one of my best friends from what is most likely complications from an eating disorder, but irregardless the exact cause, the bottom line is it was too soon and she deserved more from me as a friend, from life and from a broken system we have in place for dealing with peoples health both mental & physical. I am heartbroken but determined to let this bring about a positive change in my own life in honor of the light she brought into mine.
It made me realize that perfect squares only tell a sliver of ones life. So please never let a persons social media be your barometer for who they are, how well they’re doing or a comparison to your own life. The other side of this cozy perfect corner is a mess of books and toys and dust bunnies.
I love IG and this community for the inspiration and encouragement. It’s been a wonderful surprise for me this past year. But this loss has made me realize the only view that really matters is the one if front of your eyes not on your screen. I want to continue to support my fellow grammers but also make a more concerted effort to detach and forget about this device that has become an extension of our bodies and instead invest as much energy into those everyday moments as I do into pretty pictures.
