Well here we go again with lesson #2 in our little series of big impact with small changes. Yesterday’s was about rugs if you want to check that out and today we are talking HEIGHT!
Scale is so important but adding height is one of the best ways to also diversify your shapes. Our art, our rugs, our doors, our windows... are most often a square or rectangle. Anyone else notice how popular round mirrors have become lately? Adding a floor lamp or a tall tree (see two photos ago) are great ways to work in another or organic shape. I also like taking oversized vases and foregoing shorter florals or greens for some dried branches they can really make a unique and powerful impact (on the left). So if all you have is a side lamp and some accents make one swap for something that draws the eye up and gives a counter to all the other angular shapes of your home.
