I met a man here yesterday that was orphaned by the Khmer Rouge when he was a baby.. the only reason he survived was because he was at his neighbors house and they lied and said he was their son... they killed his entire family.. he went on to join the military when he was a young adult to fight against the Khmer Rouge.. he was almost killed himself in a skirmish and was only saved by his commander taking a bullet meant for him. He took in the children of his commander and raised them as his own. He now lives beside a school and has 23 children living in his house that are orphans or whose parents are too poor to send their children to school... he has taken them in because these children want to go to school and they can walk to school from his house.
