💤 The time we spend awake is precious, but so is the time we spend asleep. In addition to the relaxation benefits, our bodies and brains have the opportunity to repair and recover while we sleep. To show up in the world as our best selves, it’s crucial that we give ourselves this time to recharge. More ZZZs improves memory, mood, creativity and our problem-solving skills.
Here’s your #mentalfitness sleep workout:
1️⃣ Make a sleep schedule to ensure you get your ideal amount of sleep. (This number is different for everyone, but in general, it’s about 7-9 hours a night for most adults.)
2️⃣ Get off your devices and dim the lights about 90 minutes before your bedtime. This signals to your body that it’s time to release the sleep hormone melatonin and prepare for slumber.
3️⃣ Set up your space for sleep: optimize the temperature, make the room dark, and cover any blinking lights
4️⃣ Once you get in bed, settle your mind and relax your body. Meditations, soothing music, breathing exercises, gentle stretches, and Sleep Stories are a great way to do this. We even have sleep meditations for when you wake up in the middle of the night and want to fall back asleep. Check out or Mental Fitness Training Guide for more workouts! (link in bio)
