Bringing our awareness to our bodies can help us feel more calm. Say, for instance, you’re waiting in line. This can be a useful time to check in with your body. What sensations do you feel? Maybe you notice you’re clenching your teeth, feeling frustrated. You might sense tension in your neck and recognize you’re worrying about a problem you’re not in a position to address here in line. Awareness of our sensations and feelings allows us to respond to situations consciously, rather than reacting unintentionally. We can soften our jaws and lower our shoulders to soothe our bodies. We might decide to change lines, return the items, leave the store, text a love note to a friend, or stay put and enjoy the time away from other responsibilities. Left unchecked, we might allow our frustrations to mount. We might snap at the cashier. Or become angry without understanding why. Awareness of our bodies can guide us back to ourselves and back towards calm. If you have a moment, check in with your body right now. What are you sensing? 🌿 🌿 🌿 I am sensing ______________________.
