As the dust settles and the mud dries on what has been an emotional two weeks here in the Northern Rivers, we are taking a moment to reflect with awe and pride at the incredible displays of compassion and camaraderie that we have been lucky enough to witness as the full force of our community banded together to carry those that were swept up in the flood waters safely back to dry land.
We are turning our focus from rescue to recovery as we acknowledge the incredibly long and arduous road ahead that some of us have before we can hope to experience any sense of normalcy again. We will continue to share meaningful ways you can support as we shine spotlights on those in our community who are leading the way by example.
Although we are exhausted and physically spent, our energy is needed now more than ever to pressure our current government to address the serious issues of climate change that this historical event has turned the nations gaze toward. Each one of us has a responsibility to our Mother Earth to speak for and defend her when those in power will not listen.
Please continue to shout her name and share resources amongst each other while we have the momentum so that this conversation remains forefront and we can lobby for meaningful change. Our earth deserves better. We deserve better. The time is now 🌏
