CISE is a Black-owned social enterprise with an explicit charitable purpose: to support the Black community. Since our inception, we have come to live by our slogan: “Stronger threads for a stronger community.” We achieve this by creating purposeful merchandise with the intention of giving a voice to those in society who are typically ignored while highlighting the power of the Black experience and being mindful of sustainability. Proceeds from our merchandise are funneled into organizations whose missions are aligned with CISE to empower the community and fight for a better tomorrow.
Like all businesses, CISE has had to confront the challenges of operating during COVID-19 despite being an online retailer. We’ve managed to adapt by adhering to COVID-19 protocols while engaging in essential activities (as seen in our photos from our donation to @yvym2020 @schoolonwheels @walkgoodla), and working remotely when we can. However, as we make efforts to shift from operating exclusively online to on-ground, we are finding that there is an array of new COVID-related challenges that we are doing our best to navigate.
