If you deal with acne prone skin here's what you should try avoiding to see if it could be the root cause of your breakouts👇
✖️Stress: increases your cortisol levels which cause the skin's sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. Sebum can clog your pores, leading to inflammation.
✖️Pore Clogging Ingredients: can be hidden in your makeup, skincare, hair products, laundry detergent… any products that come in contact with your skin (even in-direct like your conditioner getting on your pillowcase) could be clogging your pores resulting in breakouts.
✖️Dairy: is loaded with IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) which acts on our hair follicles. This is why it gives you hormonal acne around your chin (where you would have a goatee).
✖️Sugar: when your blood sugar spikes, it causes inflammation throughout your body. These spikes also cause your body to make more sebum, an oily substance in your skin. Both inflammation and excess sebum can lead to acne.
✖️Excess Vitamins: taking certain supplements (Vitamin D, Zinc, B12 & Biotin) in EXCESS can be too much for your body to properly digest and can trigger acne. This is especially true for excessive B12 and vitamin D as both can spike testosterone.
✖️Hot Showers: although they feels nice, heat denatures (damages) protein, and your skin is delicate protein. We always recommend using room temperature water on your face.
✖️Picking Your Face: can be extra damaging to your already damaged skin, but it can also force bacteria from your fingers into what is essentially an open wound on your skin, causing infection and further damage.
