Did you know all of us who work at CLEARSTEM were major acne sufferers?? We all met because we were patients at San Diego Acne Clinic. Our social team, e-mail marketing team, SEO girls, hell that’s how Kayleigh & Danielle met. We are all in this struggle living this life right alongside you.
Just like you, we have all had serious trauma related to our acne.
We know how hard it hurts the spirit and kills the joy and, honestly, acne just makes it harder to love yourself (which is already hard for some of us. No one teaches self-love in school, amiright?)
When we groom ourselves each day we are supposed to be rewarded with dopamine, the feel-good, self-worth neurotransmitter.
When you have acne the opposite happens. You wind up feeling worse, spiraling into hopelessness, and it can quickly cascade into other areas of your life.
This is Danielle the CEO talking here BTW. I had cystic acne on my back, my chest, my thighs, you name it. I stayed in a toxic relationship for 4 years because I truly thought I couldn’t do better. I canceled my beach birthday party last minute and didn’t apply for a promotion I knew I could get because my neck was freaking out as I was too mortified to take the interview.
Despite 3 rounds of Accutane, shit like this went on for YEARS, 9 years to be exact. Too long.
Once I applied my biology background and found the real solutions for acne (diet, exfoliation, products, digestion, hormone balance, vitamins, my life changed. My self-esteem reappeared and that changed everything.
Please love yourself no matter what part of your journey you’re in, and DO NOT feel additional shame because “something surface” like acne is getting you down. How could it not?? You are human.
