The most frequent question I get is “how do I become confident while having acne?” the secret: it’s all about your perspective.⁣ ⁣ the average person’s perspective of acne usually looks something like this:⁣ 👎my acne has made me ugly⁣ 👎I will never be able to do the things I love because of my acne⁣ 👎no one will ever be able to love me because of my acne⁣ ⁣ there are staggering correlations between anxiety & depression and having acne! this skin condition does QUITE a number on our mental health, making it extremely difficult to feel confident in our appearance.⁣ ⁣ SO HOW CAN WE FIX THIS?⁣ ⁣ time to practice some self-love and therapeutic techniques!⁣ ⁣ since acne has such close ties with our mental health, and our confidence levels have direct correlations to our mentality, we have to nurture our brains & our emotions.⁣ ⁣ RECOGNIZE: you are entitled to feel how you feel about your skin, no one can tell you what emotions you should or should not have.⁣ AT THE SAME TIME: the only way you’ll feel confident in your own skin is when you are consistent & steadfast in addressing the mental health concerns surrounding it.⁣ ⁣ WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE?⁣ ⁣ for some, the pain runs deep and therapy is the only successful way to address our self-esteem difficulties. for others, mindfulness, mediation, and other self-love activities (when done on a consistent basis) are helpful ways to keep us grounded, connected with our mind & body, and assist in strengthening our self-image!⁣ ⁣ If you’re struggling with your confidence— take some time today to analyze how deeply this pain runs and take some tangible steps towards healing.⁣ ⁣ START SAYING:⁣ • My acne may make me FEEL ugly, but that does not mean I AM ugly. I am beautiful. (and identify things you like about yourself & your appearance)⁣ • I am still capable of doing the things I love even though I have acne & even though I sometimes feel limited by the condition of my skin. I have the right to fight for my happiness & experiences.⁣ • I have acne and I am deserving of love.
