That work needs to done inside our hearts, our homes, our minds, and in our collective consciousness as a nation. How can any of us feel safe when our brothers are being murdered by their protectors.
Violence is not the answer, so let’s hope these riots don’t go to waste. Let’s hope the message becomes UNFORGETTABLE- that brutality will never go unanswered again.
All you amazing peace officers, thank you for protecting us- please now feel empowered and obliged to root out the “bad apples” in your departments.

To anyone who has struggled, be it a little or a lot, due to the melanin in your skin, our hearts ache with you. It should NOT be this way.
YOU matter. Your soul’s matter. Your kid’s matter. Please know that you are also being loved by people who have never met you. You will continue to be loved, we hope you can feel it.
Let’s continue this deliberate stand of connectedness and brotherhood as a nation and maintain a new level of active empathy for everyone who is hurting in our system.
