HOW TO GET ABS & LOSE FAT IN YOUR SLEEP.... literally
.
👉🏻Question: How many hours of sleep do you get on average??
.
I’ve been doing a lot of work lately on the most overlooked pillar of health: Sleep 😴
.
You might be thinking: “Marisa, sleep is sooooo boring. Sleep won’t get me abs.” 🙄
.
Well that is where you are wrong, my friend! Sleep is critical to getting abs! Ok maybe not critical, but good quality sleep can help tremendously on your ab journey or even just your fitness journey! Did you know that just one night of sleep deprivation can make you as insulin resistant as a person with type 2 diabetes??
.
Sleep, or lack thereof, can have a HUGE impact on the other three pillars of health: exercise, nutrition, and stress~~
.
🔅Exercise: How likely are you to smash out an amazing workout if you only got four hours of sleep the night before? Even if you give it your all, it won’t be anywhere near as good as it would have been had you gotten a full night of rest. Plus, you are going to be less likely to fidget and do all of your normal daily activity, burning fewer calories overall
.
🔅Nutrition: As I said above, lack of sleep makes you more insulin resistant. It also slows the flow of glucose to the brain, making you crave glucose rich foods like ice cream and other sugar heavy treats. AND it decreases willpower. Stronger sugar cravings and no will power is a dangerous combo
.
🔅Stress: The less sleep you get, the more stressed you feel. Lack of sleep can mess with cortisol regulation and put you more on edge the rest of the day. If you need a reminder about why chronic stress is bad for your health, watch my video “How to stay fit after a break up.”
. 🙌🏻I’ve been making a LOT of effort lately to get my sleep schedule back on track and in a healthy rhythm with the sun. Its been a struggle since I messed up my circadian rhythm in college. But I've finally gotten to where I'm usually going to sleep between 12 and 1! It might not seem like much but this is HUGE for me 😄
