Sue lives in Western Springs, Illinois, and was nominated by her niece, Molly. Sue is a co-founder of The Childrenโs Medical Research Foundation (https://www.curekirby.org/), established to raise awareness and funding to support medical and scientific research for Sanfilippo Syndrome and other neurogenetic diseases afflicting children. Since 1995, she has raised more than FOUR MILLION dollars, and last year, her funding supported the start of gene therapy trials. Through Sueโs dedication, they are on the cusp of a cure! ๐ Molly shares, โShe has not only brought her mission to the footsteps of a cure but also has mentored many families around the country, if not the world, in joining the cause and forming their own foundations and fundraisers.โ ๐โ โ

Sue and her husband are the sole caregivers to her daughter, Kirby, who is afflicted with Sanfilippo Syndrome. They also raised an incredible daughter, Maggie, who is an awesome sister and now a mother herself. As Molly continues, โSue has always run an impeccable household and has always made time to make the rest of the extended family and friends feel special and important. I do not know how she has done it all, but I do know it's been nothing short of difficult and challenging. She probably hasnโt been recognized with the accolades she deserves for the hard work and sacrifice she committed to this foundation that has finally reached these breakthroughs.
