Consuela stands with the Black community against injustice, police brutality, racism, and the taking of innocent lives. We know that our words are not enough, that donations are not enough, that conversations are not enough, but they are a start.
These past few days, we’ve taken time to hold conversations within our team and make sure that our family, especially women of color, share their perspectives. We hear the anger, we hear the frustration, and we cry together. We need each other now more than ever.
Our team wants to take direct action. We are committed to educating ourselves and taking steps to end systemic racism. This commitment is not one that will end this week. It will not be a forgotten promise.
We are partnering with our community to set up internal workshops and resources to foster education, open dialogues, and to create long term goals for diversity, representation, and inclusion.
In addition, Consuela has set up a donation program for organizations working tirelessly to eradicate racism and promote inclusivity. Our first donations are to the following:
The Conscious Kid is an education, research, and policy organization dedicated to reducing bias and promoting positive identity development in youth.
BRAG is a non-profit organization that prepares and educates professionals, entrepreneurs, and students of color for executive leadership in retail, fashion, and related industries.
Our Austin Flagship is closed temporarily to give our Consuela family the opportunity to mentally rest and reflect. We will share a re-opening date when appropriate.
