Viva Babe Jill is extraordinary! She goes the extra mile to lift the lives of others; She’s our newest “It’s Not About the Bag” honoree! ⚡️👏❣️
Jill is the Executive Director (ED) of Women’s Storybook Project (WSP), a nonprofit that helps children connect with their incarcerated mothers through the joy of literature by recording stories being read and bringing comfort to the child. Viva Babe Jenna nominated her with, “Jill was strongly attracted to the mission of WSP because she believes in the power of a mother’s voice and the ability of a good book to help connect families. Her experience in teaching and nonprofit service led her to this point. Her career in nonprofit management began in 2010. A graduate of St. Norbert College and U.T. Austin, Jill has a history of connecting children and parents through the joy of reading. She has been involved in the community at large through service on the board of Reading is Fundamental of Austin and Round Rock Community Choir.” 📚💥🧡
“I met Jill when my program, Independent Identity, moved into the same building,” Jenna says. From day one, Jill was friendly and kind. She immediately welcomed our program without missing a beat (we can sometimes be a little loud). She has provided ample support to me, sharing her ED knowledge to mentor me as a brand-new ED. Jill always makes time to help me no matter how busy she is. Jill attended Independent Identity's fundraiser and donated a package of WSP books to our silent auction, even though we had only known each other for a few weeks. I am grateful to know Jill and have her as a mentor." ❤️✨
Jill shares one of her favorite quotes, “When I say to a parent, ‘read to a child’, I don’t want it to sound like medicine. I want it to sound like chocolate. ” – Mem Fox 🍫🥰💯
