Rosa is an artist and an entrepreneur, working with her community to produce woven pieces while preserving the art form and creating job opportunities. She trains local artists and facilitates the distribution of their work, including hers, by traveling from her town in Chiapas to other cities in Mexico.
For Rosa, a particular joy of weaving is introducing new colors; evolving patterns into new designs. The final product is a reflection of many different pieces coming together as one.
Weaving is done by hand, following memorized patterns and sometimes specific color combinations. The starting end of a woven piece is held firmly as multiple loose pieces are guided one by one to create one solid piece full of colors. #VivaConsuela
