Congratulations to our newest Consuela Viva Babe, Laura!
We are beyond thrilled to honor Laura, whose
strength, kindness, and positive spirit have touched countless lives at work, in her family, and
across the community. Her Viva Babe surprise came during a staff meeting, where her boss, Vicky,
read her heartfelt nomination. As the room filled with cheers and applause, Laura was left
speechless, overwhelmed by the recognition and thoughtful gifts.
In her nomination, Vicky shared, “Laura is always there to support any family member who needs
it. She is also a dedicated employee at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. I personally know I
could not do my job without her dedication. She is an inspiration; she maintains a strong faith and
a love for life through all of her trials.”
But Laura’s story goes even deeper. She’s a two-time breast cancer survivor who has found
strength in her faith and family. Diagnosed at 31, when her son was just a toddler, she never
imagined she would one day see him graduate from high school and college. Her faith became her
anchor through that tough time. “God is my strength,” Laura shares. “When He’s first, everything
else falls into place.”
Laura’s love for adventure has created a cherished tradition with her son. Together, they’ve
traveled to 33 U.S. states and explored international destinations like Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and
Greece—creating lifelong memories along the way. At home, she treasures spending time with her
family, often gathering for activities like bowling or cornhole.
When Laura received the Viva Babe Award, she admits she was completely surprised. At first, she
thought something might be wrong since the staff meeting felt unusual. But when she realized
what was happening, she fought back tears of joy. “These are the bags we’ve always looked at!”
she exclaimed, grateful for the recognition and gifts.
Laura, your strength, compassion, and love for life continue to inspire us all. Thank you for being a
