Creatine & Depression There is a growing body of research around creatine and depression. Research indicates that dietary creatine intake and depression are negatively correlated (less creatine —> more depression). There is also research indicating that creatine supplementation can be an effective treatment for certain forms of depression. Given the pervasiveness of depression and the apparent lack of efficacy of SSRI’s, we should be exploring all potential treatments, creatine included. Luckily, creatine is an affordable and safe supplement which means that it can be widely used as a potential treatment of depressive disorders.
