Introducing Bella Abzug:
Born to Russian Jewish immigrants in the Bronx, Bella Stavinsky Abzug graduated Columbia Law School in '47. She spent her life and career working as a civil rights lawyer and activist, helping different minority groups.
In 1970 she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, becoming a leader of the Women's Movement one year later, alongside Gloria Steinem and others. She dedicated herself to her work for the rights of women up until her death in 1998.
