Introducing Lee Miller:
Lee Miller grew up studying art and learning photography from her father in New York in the 1920s. At 19, she was scouted on the street by Conde Nast, and was on the cover of Vogue a few months later in 1927. For years, she was one of the most sought after models in the industry. However, she preferred the creative control of being behind the lens, and continued to study photography and became an apprentice and muse to Man Ray in Paris.
When WWII broke, she became a photojournalist for Vogue, and in 1942 became a war correspondent for Conde Nast. Her coverage of the war produced some of the first photographic evidence ever captured of the Holocaust.
