Are you struggling to work out how to start adding colour in your new home?
A great way is to use a piece of art, fabric or piece of furniture you love as a starting point and work from there. When we moved we decided to put this artwork in the kitchen, I love the drama of it! I’m using the colours in the painting to design the whole room. The kitchen cupboards are a pale grey and I’ve chosen a dark grey ceramic table, which is very practical for family life, and finished it off with some gorgeous blue velvet dining chairs. This room is still a work in progress as we wait for the shutters and curtains and I need to source a mirror and a clock still!
This is our only dining area so it’s important to have seating which is comfortable for dinner parties with friends along with being suitable for everyday family living. Velvet is a good fabric for this. It’s also worth considering where the legs of your table sit, if you want to add more chairs round your table you still want everyone to have leg room and for the table legs to not get in the way! This table is a perfect design for no legs being in the way!
