The last 3 months have been some of the hardest but most rewarding. We’ve taken a product that had basic functionality, found out what people really wanted it to do for them, and began implementing features at a breakneck speed. All the while, trying to figure out exactly how to tell the world what it is that we do, why we do it, the value it will add to users, but ultimately how we are going to make them money. Whether you simply liked an update, signed up for the beta, gave us feedback on the product, our branding, and our position in the market its all been noticed. (PS… you can still signup to reserve a username)

The most welcome surprise has been the amount of support we’ve received from friends, acquaintances and random people we’ve never met. The number of people who have been willing to spend an hour of their time speaking with us has been amazing, and each meeting genuinely appreciated.

We had someone email us about joining our team after signing up for the our beta, he’s now joined us as a founder. Met with a friend with 20 years experience developing - he started in elementary school - expecting nothing but feedback and perhaps opportunities to partner and he jumped on board, believing our vision - a vision that goes far beyond a new music website. Friends have reached out about getting involved financially, whether something works out or not their willingness to belief in our plan of action has been just as valuable.

We will be announcing additional team members and a firm launch date over the coming weeks (expect something you can use in June)

We didn’t win the Upstart competition, but we learnt a lot about how to communicate the product to someone that doesn’t have domain experience, and two days later were able to put together the clearest elucidation of our plans for the future for a group that included educators, investors, and marketers at The Ryerson DMZ.

Tomorrow morning I take Receiver on the road, I’m heading to NYC for 2.5 weeks. If you got this far through the post and are going to be around I’d love to grab a coffee.
