DÉCLIC Wednesday Inspirations - The Honeycomb Apartments (2006)⠀
Far from what is normally associated with public housing projects, we find these colourful apartments which are modeled on the modular honeycomb clusters of a beehive. This stunning seaside project is the winning entry in a competition by the Slovenia Housing Fund, a government-run program in Slovenia, which provides low cost apartments for young families and couples. The blocks 30 apartments, located on the edge of an industrial district, sit on a hill overlooking Izola Bay, and take full design advantage of the local Mediterranean climate. It makes smart, efficient use of solar shading, natural ventilation and thermal comfort by using its modular balconies to regulate its interiors all year-round 🐝
