?Day 2️⃣ of #ayearofyoga2017⠀⠀ #ekapadarajakapotasana II ?⠀⠀ A combination of a backbend, chest, shoulder opener and hip flexor stretch! Talk about all in one!⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I only discovered I could get into this pose about a few weeks ago while practicing my other king pigeon variation. It is a deep backbend so a lot of warming up is absolutely vital. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ In 2016, I worked really hard on getting my back more mobile again. As a kid, I could get into scorpion relatively easily so that was a pose that I was working hard towards last year (and thankfully I achieved my goal!).⠀⠀ Backbends are one of those poses you see gradual progress with. It's important to remember that you should never force yourself to go further as that could lead to injury, just listen to your body #practicepracticepractice⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I find that with this pose (and also dancer's pose), clearly brings out how tight my chest and shoulders are. It is also incredibly difficult to balance with both arms reaching for the foot! ⠀⠀ Lots of things to work on between now and next year! ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ---------------------------------------------Challenge hosted by: @cyogalab⠀⠀ Sponsor: @livesankalpa⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ #yoga #yogi #yogini #loveyoga #yogajunkie #yogaaddict #yogaeverydamnday #yogaeveryday #yogaeverywhere #brisbaneyoga #yogisofinstagram #igyoga #instayoga #yogagram #yogalife #yogajourney #yogapic #yogapose #iloveyoga #fitness #health #namaste #yogspiration #yogachallenge #flexible #lovemydharmabums⠀⠀
