The interdisciplinary design studio Neri & Hu regularly discusses the idea of reflective nostalgia — a framework they use to create architecture that stitches together time-worn structures and contemporary aesthetics. Papi, a Parisian restaurant that occupies a 19th-century Haussmann building, is one of the latest examples of their point of view, as it preserves fragments of limestone and brick from years past, but layers in elements of smooth, organic modernism.
