The ash wood used in our Composed Vanity II is currently sourced from sustainably managed forests that are certified by the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers. Unbeknownst to most Americans, hundreds of millions of ash trees have been killed over the last two decades by the larvae of the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis). Scientists have called it the most destructive forest pest ever introduced to North America, and still have not found an effective response to the widespread infestation. ⠀

With some regions reporting less than five years of ash logging left, loggers are harvesting while they can. Affected trees may still be valuable for lumber and other wood products if infestation is detected early and the trees are processed quickly. If they are not harvested, ash trees living in infested areas are susceptible to attack and death.⠀
