Frond Desk Chair pictured in a restored post-and-beam South L.A. home by Chinese-American architect Miller Fong. The son of 1930s immigrants from Canton, China, Fong graduated from USC in 1964, immediately started his own architectural practice, and eventually became the principal designer for Fong Brothers Co., a Los Angeles firm started by his parents in 1953. Sleek, nontraditional furniture design ran in the blood. The iconic Wave chaise (1966), designed by Fong's father, is in the permanent collection of NYC's MOMA, while Fong’s Lotus chair (1968) is in the permanent collection at LACMA.
