Mr. Jay proved to be a lightning rod for Toronto after signing on in Dec. ‘91. In Aug. ‘92 he made a passionate plea to the very reserved/quiet Jay fans during an interview for more noise from the crowd. The phrase "Winfield Wants Noise" quickly became the slogan for the rest of the season.
